SVCTE Culinary Arts Program Selected for Glenn W. Hoffmann Award Metropolitan Education District’s (MetroED) Silicon Valley Career Technical Education's (SVCTE) Culinary Arts program is among one of only six 2025 award recipients of the prestigious Glenn W. Hoffmann Awards. This 41-year tradition celebrates educational programs that significantly impact student success in Santa Clara County.

SVCTE Students Commit to Careers in Skilled Trades at SkillsUSA National Signing Day Event Students from Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) center were celebrated on May 6 at the Lowe’s store on Cottle Road in San Jose during the 2025 SkillsUSA National Signing Day, a nationwide celebration showcasing our next generation of professionals in the skilled pathways that are essential to America’s future.

SVCTE Shines at SkillsUSA State Competition: 16 Medals, Chapter of Distinction, and First SVCTE State Officer Nearly 120 students from Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) center traveled to Ontario, California, from April 10 to 13 to compete in the 2025 SkillsUSA California State Leadership and Skills Conference, the largest SkillsUSA event in the state dedicated to showcasing career and technical education excellence. Joined by more than 4,000 students participating in 120 skilled trades and leadership contests, SVCTE students demonstrated their hands-on skills, leadership, and career knowledge across a wide range of competition categories. Competing in SkillsUSA strongly indicates a student’s career readiness, technical skills, and professionalism. It shows their commitment to excellence, leadership potential, and ability to perform under real-world industry standards. Participation reflects both personal drive and preparation for future success in the workforce.

SVAE’s CalWORKs Program and Second Harvest Food Bank Continue Growing Monthly Food Distribution Originally launched in 2023 to support Silicon Valley Adult Education (SVAE) students facing food insecurity, SVAE’s monthly community food distribution quickly revealed a broader need—first within Santa Clara County and then beyond. What began as a resource for SVAE’s own adult learners has grown into a vital service for low-income residents across Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, thanks to a partnership between SVAE’s CalWORKs (California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids) program and Second Harvest Food Bank.

At SVCTE, students are taught by instructors who bring years of real-world industry experience into the classroom, providing hands-on learning that connects directly to today's workforce needs.
